***** 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Mystery!

Who doesn’t love a good murder mystery book? I know I do! “Whitby Rock: The Sweetest Drug, An Engaging Murder Mystery” by Kev Freeman is one of the best murder mysteries I’ve read in quite a while! I’d never read any of Freeman’s work before, but I greatly enjoy his writing-style and storytelling ability. I’ll be on the lookout for more of his work from now on.
Set in a quant English village, Detective Inspector Mary Hunter (a young up-and-comer in the force) is tasked with unraveling the mystery that starts with a body hanging from the church belfry. The only clue is several small candies with the label “Whitby Rock” that are lying under the gruesome corpse. Detective Inspector Hunter rushes to put the scattered clues together but is soon tangled up with a man named Jack Headland. Jack is a man on the rise, attempting to distance himself from his poor childhood. Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t keep his hands clean and becomes involved with a shady criminal mastermind. This mysterious figure weaves a strange tale about criminal exploits that spans decades and thousands of miles.
This book is truly a page turner! It’s one of those books that can really make a reader get lost in the story. In these difficult times, who doesn’t want to clock out from the real world and get lost in a good book.

***** 5.0 out of 5 stars Really unique murder mystery!

Really unique murder mystery. This popped up on my recommended list and with the price I figured why not? Most murder mysteries follow a pretty routine plot line, but this one? Takes a whole new approach. I enjoyed the flow of the story and how it wove through time and intro sided the characters to set the story up. I adore flawed characters, and that is probably why I found Jack so riveting. I hope the sequel comes out soon. Book ends on a major cliffhanger. From Sweden, to England, to Florida this story keeps you on your toes.
